Our Story

kWh Advisory & Development is a seasoned renewable energy project development and transaction advisory firm with +15 years of experience, incorporated in the United Kingdom and operating across Sub-Saharan Africa, East Africa, and EMEA. We take projects from greenfield origination and site identification through to financial close and commercial operations, managing the technical, commercial, financial, and regulatory workstreams that determine whether a project reaches COD or stalls at the development stage. We are developers first, advisers second. Our services span site assessment, solar resource analysis, grid connection design, PPA and implementation agreement negotiation, permitting, financial modelling, debt and equity structuring, DFI engagement, and investment-grade project finance packaging. We work equally on greenfield developments and brownfield repositioning, where legacy issues must be resolved before capital can be attracted.

Our portfolio spans Kenya, Uganda, Sierra Leone, Zambia, Egypt, Jordan, and the United Kingdom. Clients include governments, utilities, independent power producers, development finance institutions, and impact investors. Our principals engage directly on every project, from the first site visit through financial close to COD.

Structured Renewable Energy Advisory Services

Supporting the development and financial viability of utility-scale solar PV and hybrid energy infrastructure across African markets.

Project Development & Financial Structuring

Our project development work begins with high-resolution solar and wind resource modelling, energy yield prediction across P10, P50, and P90 scenarios, site suitability and topographical assessment, and technology selection spanning monofacial and bifacial PV, BESS chemistry, and wind turbine configurations. We manage the full engineering, procurement, and construction cycle through owner's engineering, technical due diligence, RFQ and RFP bid management, EPC contract negotiation, and critical path schedule and cost control through to commissioning. NEC contracts (Options A, C, and E) at a strategic level, including contract administration, early warnings, compensation events, programme management, and change control.

On the financial side, we structure debt and equity arrangements, including construction-to-term facilities, mini-perm and back-leverage structures, tax equity, liquidated damages and grant or loan programme advisory. We advise on REC, carbon offset, and renewable energy certificate monetisation, and deliver grid integration support encompassing interconnection queue management, substation and collector system design, power system studies, and SCADA and grid code compliance. Post-COD, we provide asset performance monitoring, O&M contract management, warranty oversight, and repowering and life extension analysis.

PPA Negotiation & Regulatory Advisory

We structure and negotiate the full range of off-take arrangements: corporate PPAs, utility PPAs, sleeved agreements, and virtual PPAs with rigorous attention to credit support, termination liabilities, force majeure provisions, and merchant revenue optimisation, including basis risk and capture price analysis.

Our regulatory advisory covers environmental impact assessment and mitigation planning, grid interconnection applications and impact study management, local zoning and building permits, aviation and defence clearances, and the management of wildlife, cultural resource, and wetland compliance obligations.

We manage the complete land control process from title search and option agreements through lease negotiation, geotechnical investigation, topographical survey, and land use compatibility and setback analysis. Community engagement and stakeholder mapping are embedded in our approach from the outset, ensuring social licence is established alongside legal site control.

On the PPP side, we advise on the structuring and implementation of public-private partnership frameworks, working directly with governments and utilities to design commercially viable project delivery models, negotiate implementation agreements, and manage the regulatory interface that determines a project's route to financial close and long-term operational stability.
